MarkWest Energy Partners, L.P. is a wholly owned subsidiary of MPLX LP (NYSE: MPLX), is engaged in the gathering, processing, and transportation of natural gas; the transportation, fractionation, storage and marketing of NGLs; and the gathering and transportation of crude oil. The company divides the business into four parts: Southwest, Northeast, Marcellus and Utica. Since 2007, the company develops natural gas supplies in emerging resource plays, now it has become the majority of its growth.
In 1988, the company was founded in Denver, Colorado.
